On July 9, 2026, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning to consumers to immediately cease using the heated insoles.

According to the CPSC, the internal lithium-ion battery can explode and ignite, even when the insoles are turned off and not in use, posing a risk of serious burn injury and fire hazard.

There are currently 14 reports of fires and explosions involving the insoles resulting in at least 10 reported burn injuries, including serious second- and third-degree burns requiring skin grafts.

This warning involves METASONO/MEATSONO heated insoles.The insoles are primarily navy blue with a multicolored design across the insole, contain a lithium-ion battery in the heel area and are operated by a remote control. “METASONO” is printed on both sides of the insole.

The heated insoles were sold online through Amazon.com and eBay.com from July 2023 through July 2026 for between $28 and $70.
