On March 19, 2026 ,The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning to consumers to immediately cease using the e-bikes.
According to the assessment of CPSC, the bike’s fork steerer tube may develop a small fatigue crack. This could lead to a progressive failure of the fork, posing a fall hazard.
There is currently one report of the steerer tube failing and breaking.
Are the Como SL E-Bikes Recalled?
Yes, Specialized Bicycle Components Inc., of Morgan Hill, California announced a product safety recall.
This recall involves bike forks on all Specialized Como SL e-bikes, regardless of model. “Como SL” is printed on the bikes seat tube or top tube.The e-bikes were sold in a variety of colors, including:
In the Como SL 4.0
- Cast Umber
- Dove Grey
- Raspberry
And in the Como SL 5.0
- Smoke
- Brassy Yellow
- Brushed Silver
Only SL versions in the Como family of e-bikes are a part of this recall.
The e-bikes were sold online at www.specialized.com and through Authorized Specialized Retailers between March 2021 through Jan. 2026 for between $3,250 and $4,800.
