Trek & Electra Townie, Precaliber, Sprocket Bike Recall Lawsuit

On Nov. 13, 2025, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning to consumers to immediately cease using the Trek Bikes.

Due to a potential malfunction in the coaster brakes, they may fail to engage. This poses a possible crash risk for riders, and could lead to injury.

Are the Bicycles Recalled?

Yes. Trek Bicycle Corporation, of Waterloo, Wisconsin has announced a product safety recall.

This recall involves the following brands, models, and years:

  • Electra Townie Rental 1 Step Thru – 2026
  • Electra Sprocket 1 16 – 2026
  • Trek Precaliber 16 2024 and – 2026
  • Trek Precaliber 20 2024 and – 2026
  • Trek Precaliber 12 – 2026
  • Trek Precaliber 12 CB Replacement Wheel – 2026
  • Trek Precaliber 16 CB Replacement Wheel – 2026
  • Trek Precaliber 20 CB Replacement Wheel – 2026

The bicycles and bike replacement parts were sold by Trek and Electra authorized retailers nationwide, in stores and online, as well as at Trek.com from Aug. 2023 to Sept. 2025 for between $300 and $660 for the bikes and between $66 and $77 for the replacement wheels.
