What is the Problem?
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recalled scooters can overheat and ignite, posing a fire hazard and risk of serious injury and death. The CPSC’s recall states the scooters were “sold with unauthorized lithium-ion battery UL certification labels.” Transpro US Inc. and the CPSC have received at least one report of a scooter catching fire.
Is My Electric Scooter Included in this Recall?
The July 24, 2025, recall includes about 700 Transpro A3 Hub Motor, A11F Spark, and R1 Commuter electric scooters. Lithium-ion batteries, located beneath the scooter deck, power the scooters. The scooters were sold in black or gray. The model names are located on the scooter deck.
The recalled scooters were sold at Bike and electronics stores in the Northeast from August 2024 through April 2025 for between $250 and $400.
