On Mar. 30, 2023, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recalled Jetson Electric Bike’s scooters and hoverboards due to severe fire hazards.
Why were Jetson’s scooters and hoverboards recalled?
Jetson Electric Bikes recalled 42-volt Rogue scooters and hoverboards due to a risk of the lithium-ion battery packs in the products overheating and causing fires.
A 10-year-old and a 15-year-old died from a fire on April 1, 2022, originating from a 42-volt Jetson Rogue hoverboard. The girls’ parents suffered smoke inhalation injuries.
There have been multiple reports of the recalled scooters and hoverboards burning, sparking, melting and/or catching fire.
About 53,000 units were included in the recall.
Which scooter and hoverboard models were included in the recall?
The recall includes all 42-volt Jetson Rogue self-balancing scooter and hoverboard models manufactured from 2018 through 2019.
Affected units do not have a barcode on the bottom of the product, or a charge port with only one pin.
The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using and charging the recalled scooters and hoverboards.
