On July 16, 2026, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning to consumers to immediately cease using the heated blanket.

According to the CPSC, the internal wire heating elements can overheat and melt through the polyester fabric, posing a risk of burn injury and fire hazard to consumers.

There are currently five reports of blankets smoking, melting or burning due to the heating elements overheating, including one burn injury.

This warning involves Melinora Electric Heated Blankets. The blankets are gray, machine washable electric heated blankets made with polyester fleece. The blankets have an attached white remote that can be used to adjust the heat to 10 different levels.

The heated blankets were sold online through Amazon.com from February 2025 through October 2025.
