On Oct. 23, 2025, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning to consumers to immediately cease using the curling iron.
Due to a possible product error, the barrel of the curling iron may snap and detach while in use. This poses a potential burn hazard to consumers.
There are currently 258 reports of the curling iron barrel detaching, six of those reports having led to burn injuries.
Are Bio Ionic Curling Irons Recalled?
Yes. J & D Brush Co., LLC of Commack, New York issued a product safety recall.
This recall involves the Bio Ionic One-Inch-Long Barrel Curling Iron with model number
- LXT-CL-1.0 with a date code between 0722 and 1223
The model number can be found on the rating label located on the handle of the curling iron. The date code is engraved on the prongs of the plug in the format MMYY representing the month and year. The curling iron has a black handle and black barrel and the handle has a blue BIOIONIC logo.
The curling irons were sold online on Amazon and Bioionic.com. They were able to be purchased in stores and online at Salon Centric, Ulta, Sephora, and Nordstrom, as well as in a variety of salons and beauty supply stores nationwide from August 2022 through July 2024 for about $165.
