The Complaint alleges that the Gourmia Multi-Mode Smartpot Pressure Cooker has defects that make it unreasonably dangerous for consumer use. According to the Complaint, on September 6, 2022, J.E.B. suffered “serious, substantial, life-altering burn injuries as the direct result of the pressure cooker’s lid being removable while still pressurized.” The Complaint goes on to state that when the lid is removed under such circumstances, the pressure trapped within the unit causes the scalding hot contents to be projected from the pressure cooker and onto unsuspecting consumers.
The lawsuit also references several other lawsuits against the Steelstone Group, LLC, the distributor of the Gourmia Multi-Mode Smartpot, which allege similar burn injuries resulting from its pressure cookers.
The suit was filed by Johnson//Becker attorney Adam J. Kress. Adam exclusively handles injury cases, with an emphasis on national products liability litigation, including cases involving burn injuries from defective pressure cookers.
