On Oct. 30, 2025, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning to consumers to immediately cease using the Werner kayak paddle.
Due to a potential product structural error, the paddles may break while in use, posing an injury hazard, and drowning risk.
There are currently 80 reports of the paddles breaking during use.
Are the Kayak Paddles Recalled?
Yes. Werner Paddles, of Tennessee has announced a product safety recall.
This recall involves two models of paddle, Stealth and Covert, both made of black carbon fiber. The word ‘Werner’ appears on both blades, and the model name is printed on the right paddle.
The paddles were sold in stores at 4 Corners River Sports, Outdoor New England, The River Store, and Alder Creek Kayak Supply. Online, they could be purchased through Wernerpaddles.com, Riversports.com, Aldercreek.com, Outdoornewengland.com, and Theriverstore.com.
They were sold between Oct. 2023 through Aug. 2025 for between $470 and $560.
