VIVI E-Bikes Lithium-ion Batteries Recall Lawsuit

VIVI E-Bikes and the lithium-ion batteries sold with the bikes have been recalled. The lawyers at Johnson//Becker, PLLC, are currently accepting new cases for recalled e-bikes and lithium-ion batteries.

What is the Problem?

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the recalled lithium-ion batteries can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. VIVI and the CPSC report at least 14 cases of the batteries overheating, including at least three reports of fire. The CPSC warns consumers to stop using the VIVI E-Bikes immediately.

What is Thermal Runaway?

Lithium-ion batteries are popular due to their high energy density, which enables them to store a significant amount of power in a compact, lightweight package. Thermal runaway is a chain reaction in which a lithium-ion battery cell overheats, causing it to release energy rapidly and potentially ignite or explode. This can happen due to overcharging, physical damage, or internal short circuits, making lithium-ion batteries potentially dangerous.

Is My E-Bike Included in this Recall?

The July 17, 2025, recall includes about 24,000 36-volt lithium-ion rechargeable batteries with certain VIVI brand e-bikes. The model information can be found in the sales documentation and on the specific bicycle frames. “VIVI” is printed on the downtube.  Battery model information is located on the battery itself.
