Keystone, Thor Motor Coach, Grand Design RVs Defective Awnings Recall Lawsuit

Defective awnings pose an injury risk to owners and passengers.

Three recreational vehicle (RV) manufacturers issued recalls in August 2022, citing similar risks related to retractable awnings that could cause injury.

Keystone, Thor Motor Coach, and Grand Design announce recalls of numerous models of their RVs through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The NHTSA description of the hazard posed by the collectively recalled vehicles reads: “The electric retractable awning has a welded seam on the fabric that may separate, potentially allowing the awning to drop beyond normal operation.”

These defective awnings pose an injury risk to owners and passengers if they are underneath or nearby the awning when it detaches from the vehicle.

Grand Design’s recall affects 8,150 of its RVs; Keystone has recalled the awning element on 20,220 vehicles; and Thor Motor Coach’s recall includes up to 262 RVs currently in use.

The specific models for each brand are:
