Berkley Jensen (BJ’s) Citronella Tiki Torches Recall Lawsuit

BJ’s Wholesale Club has recalled its Berkley Jensen Citronella 72-inch Outdoor Torches, which pose a significant burn hazard. The lawyers at Johnson//Becker, PLLC, are currently accepting new Berkley Jensen tiki torch lawsuits. Learn more below.

Many people enjoy having a citronella tiki torch on a patio or by a firepit. They provide a pleasant look and can help keep mosquitos away, but when these outdoor torches are faulty, they become extremely dangerous. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) stated that Berkley Jensen’s Citronella 72-inch Outdoor Torches’ tops could break open or fall off while lit, posing a potential for a severe burn.

The March 28, 2024, recall includes about 90,000 torches, which are five inches wide and 72 inches high. The torches were sold with copper-plated, nickel-plated, black, or gray torch tops and fiberglass wicks. The CPSC announced that consumers should stop using these tiki torches immediately. Nine reports of the torches malfunctioning have resulted in two burn injuries.

The citronella torches were sold for about $13 exclusively at BJ’s Wholesale Club locations nationwide and online at bjs.com from January 2015 through November 2023.
