3M Thermal Laminators Recall Lawsuit

On Oct. 23, 2025, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a warning to consumers to immediately cease using the curling iron.

Due to a product malfunction, the laminators are at risk of overheating. This poses a burn risk and potential fire hazard to consumers.

Are 3M Thermal Laminators Recalled?

Yes. 3M Company, of St. Paul, Minnesota issued a product safety recall.

This recall involves the Scotch™ Thermal Laminator, in model number:

  • TL909-50.

The laminator is light gray/white with gray accents, and the word “Scotch” is printed in gray on the front. The model number and serial number are located on a sticker on the bottom of the laminator.
Only units with the following serial numbers are included in the recall:

  • 2406000001 through 2501001920

The thermal laminators were sold in store and online at Office Depot, and Office Smart and School Specialty, Inc. from August 2024 through September 2025 for between $100 and $130.
