The complaint alleges that Mr. Velazquez and Ms.Rubio, suffered “serious” burns when using the Hy Cite Royal Prestige pressure cooker when the safety features failed during the product’s operation. The lid was “suddenly and unexpectedly ejected off the pot”, resulting in the searing contents inside to be forcefully discharged from the cooker, covering both Mr. Velazquez and Ms. Rubio, causing significant injuries.
The lawsuit contends that despite marketing the product as equipped with numerous built-in “safety” features, the pressure cooker “possesses defects that make them unreasonably dangerous for their intended use by consumers.” It goes on to state that Hy Cite “knew or should have known of these defects,” yet failed to properly warn consumers of the risks.
Attorney Adam J. Kress of Johnson//Becker filed the suit. Mr. Kress exclusively handles injury cases, with an emphasis on national products liability litigation, including cases involving injuries from defective pressure cookers.
