On Sept. 04, 2025, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC ) issued a warning to consumers to immediately cease using the Makita U.S.A., Inc. Cordless Grease Guns. The grease gun hose may develop a hole, posing a potential laceration hazard.

There are currently five reported incidents of laceration injuries stemming from the failure of the defective hose.

Yes. The Makita Cordless Grease Guns with model numbers XPG01S1, XPG01SR1 and XPG01Z, and Makita Grease Gun Hoses with model numbers 191A79-9, 191A80-4, 191W59-7 and 191W58-9.

These items were sold in hardware and home improvement stores nationwide and on various websites from June 2020 through Jan. 2025 for between $60 and $390.
